Living a Dream is a book that chronicles Paralee's hike as she puts one foot in front of the other, day after day along the Appalachian Trail. You can share the mental and physical challenges she experienced as she began hiking the Appalachian Trail, continually without any contact with civilization, for days or months at a time. She always tried to look at her hike as a walk in the woods-the miles just happened.
Throughout her book you will find interesting background information about the origin of the Appalachian Trail, history about various sections of the Appalachian Trail, and resources for being a successful hiker or backpacker as you plan your own hike.
After raising three children, Paralee retired at the age of 57 and succumbed to white blaze fever as she began her hike along the Appalachian Trail. Paralee is also known as Pearl by her friends and TrapperLee along the Appalachian Trail. She is only one of the many sixty-plus adults who attempt to hike the entire Trail each year and she has completed over 1,500 miles of the Trail. She is now section-hiking the remaining miles of the Trail and was fortunate to have her Grandson, Tyler with her this summer for several weeks in New York, Connecticut, and Maine.
