NEWS, TRAIL ALERTS & UPDATES:
After 20 years, the 100.5 mile Pinhoti Trail will soon be connected to the Appalachian Trail, allowing hikers to trek all the way from Alabama to Maine, as originally envisioned in the 1920's by AT founder Benton MacKaye.  For more information contact www.alabamatrailsasso.org.

For relocations along the Appalachian Trail, check with the maintaining clubs or the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and select "free ATC Trail alerts."

The Thru Hikers Handbook, by Bob "501" McCaw, is a good place to find state-by-state updates and changes. The ATC and the maintaining clubs will post any updates, issues, or relocations on their site.
Living a Dream chronicles Dawson's hike as she puts one foot in front of the other, day after day along the Appalachian Trail. Throughout the book readers will find interesting background information, history about various sections of the trail, and resources for being a successful AT hiker or backpacker. Click here for more about the book Living a Dream.
